Celebrity fashion trends should not necessarily be repeated at home, behind closed doors, let alone on the streets of America. The problem with celebrity fashion trends lately, is twofold, however. On one hand, it seems that every celebrity is copycatting the latest trend without much thought to being the tenth person at the Grammys wearing a metallic dress. The other part of the celebrity fashion trend crisis that we are facing at this very moment, is that there will be everyday people following these fashion trends in a city near you.

Stop the Metallic!

Innocent bystanders were blinded at the recent Grammy Awards by the glaring display of metallic dresses and gowns worn by far too many celebrities. Trendy should not mean that every starlet in Hollywood gets to wear their designer's interpretation of metallic fashion. Even the most reputable designers chose to adorn their celebrity model in the glimmer and glare or metallic materials. When more than three celebrities wear the same style of fashion at a red carpet event, it becomes too trendy. The problem with this metallic trend is that there are now factory workers for Walmart piecing together silver and gold ensembles that will sell for $12.99 in the stores. Blame the celebrities for this fashion trend when you see ther return of Disco.

What this Means to You

Expect an unusually large number of women to wear blinding metallic dresses and gowns to the next wedding reception you attend. Silver sequins and gold glitter will make a comeback at commercial retail stores like Target and Walmart. Payless will bring out the metallic spike heel collection and your grandmother will purchase a pair of gold metallic house slippers.

Skinny Jeans Belong on 110 Pound Runway Models

Nicole Richie at starving weight and banned runway models who didn't meet the minimum weight rules will look good in skinny jeans. Other celebrities, posed at the right angle, will pull off the skinny jean with a pair of three inch heels and some photo editing. The skinny jeans celebrity fashion trend is running wild in Hollywood.

The Manny

A big thank you to Britney Spears for exposing her "manny" to the public. Now every celebrity is following suit, grabbing their "mannies" and taking stroller rides to the park. Celebrities like Britney seem to think that a Manny will somehow be a better option than the more traditional Nanny. Is it possible that celebrities have learned a lesson from Jude Law's frolicking with his Nanny? Bringing in the Manny, means that many celebrities may now be realizing the threat of the attractive Nanny.

What this Means to You

In the grand scheme of things, expect male babysitters in your area to get higher pay than the Red Cross trained female sitters. Fourteen year old girls everywhere will face fierce competition from "wannabe mannies," who once preferred mowing lawns to watching the neighbor's three-year-old twins.

Leggings

Leggings of all lengths have been surfacing on celebrities lately. Some celebrities have made the bold move of running errands about town in full-length stretch leggings, covered loosely by a large t-shirt. There is no mistaking the new leggings for athletic wear of dance apparel. Many of the shorter leggings feature lace or other embellishments on the hem, throwing the celebrity fashion world back to the age of Madonna. Anyone who remembers the legging craze that began sometime around 1984, should not be embracing this new celebrity fashion trend. Madonna pulled it off with a short ruffle skirt, pointed granny boots, and 35 rubber bracelets up her arm, but this is not a fashion trend that should be repeated in 2007.

What this Means to You

For everyday people, leggings may not be the best fashion statement to make. Leggings that offer "cuteness" to teens born around the time that leggings debuted are the exception to the rule. Unfortunately, the return of leggings really means that you will see women caving in the promise of comfort, sporting leggings mixed with mini skirts or long t-shirts at the local mall. Leggings might be most appropritate for an evening dance class or a weekend at the ski slopes, but stay away from the black rubber bracelets.

Final Warnings about Celebrity Fashion Trends

Celebrity fashion trends come and go. Most celebrities would never consider wearing the same outfit in public more than once. The average person, however, does not have this luxury. Most people who fall prey to the latest irritating celebrity fashion trend will be stuck wearing it, long after the E! Entertainment fashion police ticket the celebrity offender. Stay away from anything that seems too new and from styles that are still in the back of your closet from high school. If a celebrity trend is meant to be repeated by the general public, you will be able to compliment rather than stare with horror at the woman in front of you at the local grocery store check-out line.
